I so wanted to like this guy too…
Half of my potential comments in this community end this way … I just stare into the void, wonder if my humor makes any sense and then fifty percent of the time just delete what I just wrote.
I would have been killed off on the second day Voyager got lost in the Delta quadrant.
Hey come on! We’re all kind and great people here! You can trust us. That’s what Starfleet is all about
Sheepishly putting on my red shirt
Congratulations! You’ve been assigned to an away mission on an unfamiliar planet with three of the main cast. We await your return!
Alright!!! I can’t wait to tell my friends about this adventure when I come back! … it’s gonna be so cool!!
Your diplomacy destroyed my world!
Yeah yeah yeah but look! The Enterprise!
Ohhhhh … Prime Directive … I thought that booklet was a comic about a “Dime Detective”
Oops shouldn’t have this Starfleet logo here either.
Join me in a belt of Romulan ale?
You gotta lean into it. If Keiko and Kess could make it most of the way through the series, so can you!
Hey now, don’t sell yourself short. I’m sure you would have died on the first day!

Red Shirts … we are the honorary Red Shirts of Risa
There are the main contributors with their never ending supply of memes, everyone knows them and love them.
And then there’s us, the Red Shirts, who just step in from time to time and every once in a while we just get shot down and no one ever notices.
To the Red Shirts, my friend … wear the uniform with pride, we are the Re …
Janeway is my favorite captain for sure. The others are all remarkable, because of course they are, but whenever I watch Voyager, I am reminded of how much more I like her over the others.
She had (and used) this great guile to serve her and her crew’s needs. She didn’t readily break her principles, but would intelligently question them when they didn’t appear to align with the greater good or her responsibilities.
She was both flexible and reliable. I feel that some viewers saw that as unpredictability, but I don’t think so. She actively did more to help her crew in every way than any other captain we’ve seen.
I find her erratic from episode to episode.
Sometimes she’s a by-the-book “We must be a light in the darkness” type who spreads Starfleet ideals no matter the cost. Sometimes she’s Starship Troopers levels of “You do it right or I’ll shoot you myself.”
From what I understand this is because there were two factions in the writers room regarding who Janeway was as a character.
I call this the Coffee vs No Coffee divide.
I call this the Coffee vs No Coffee divide.
Inside every person there are 2 personalities…
Inside of you there are two wolves.
One has had her morning coffee.
The other is murdering Tuvix.
The coffee character chasm, if you will.
The Captain Janeway Coffee Crew getting ready to write a new episode
She’s not my favorite but I do rank her real high for all the reasons you mentioned. I also think she’s the Captain who stands for Starfleet the most. She sacrificed a lot to hold up Starfleet ideals
This is my favorite episode. Janeway is so cool
Trek heresy, but in my personal top five list from all the shows, Voyager takes two slots and TNG gets none.
Not even measure of a man gets a slot?
This is my personal list. While I know that academically TNG had a lot of high concept scifi, and was doing it before it was popular in TV, I don’t connect with it as much.
I feel that a lot of TNG episodes are worthy of being called great but I just don’t connect with them.
For what it’s worth, my top all time Trek episode is Voyager’s Living Witness.
Voyager’s Living Witness
Not a bad choice at all
Jus out of curiosity, why is it that you connect with this one but not the TNG ones?
The characters mostly. A combination of the writing and acting. I don’t dislike them (mostly) but I don’t feel in my feelings as compelled by Data’s journey for humanity as I do by the Doctor’s, for example.
Also the interior of the Enterprise-D is kind of hideous to me. Not that it’s a huge factor, but I like the softer lighting of Voyager or the NX. Even DS9’s intentional ugliness wraps around and I find it comfy. The Enterprise-D just looks like a garish 80s hotel.
Same. Great episode. I love the interplay between these two
Which episode was this?
I loved this episode!
The day I realized she was the same actor as Red from OITNB was a trip
Also Flemeth in Dragon Age.
Holy shit, I never realized that. Wtf
