That was the best prank on the primary school library computers I could think of until I discovered .bat files that could open windows endlessly and the poor windows xp eventually crashed. I also changed the icon on the shortcut to the file, so it looked like IE.

Damn, that pictures almost old enough to stop being a prime target for the IDF and Donald Trump.

Guessing it’s a shared device. I don’t know a mother of someone old enough to use computers and post on Lenny that would give two f*cks about CPU-Z

This requires more work but don’t make anyone an admin of their computer if they don’t know what they’re doing and you have to clean it up.

My uncle wasn’t the admin of his (Windows) computer, but he managed to install a web browser that was basically malware. The damn thing didn’t require any admin permissions to install, and it automatically ran a powershell script to reinstall itself if it was removed. I had to edit the registry to remove it. It’s crazy.

My mother has the sudo password. It’s fine, she doesn’t mess with the command line unless I write an email saying “open terminal and copy and past this command into it…”

And even then I have to be on the phone with her to explain how to open the terminal. But that’s way easier than trying to explain how to navigate through a bunch of menus.

Agreed! It’s just way easier to explain “open that black box thingy here and then write what i sent ya”

Than “click this, then do that, click this, then write this here press windows and R, write this, the click that…”

I mean, at least Firefox or LibreFox or WaterFox…

If they were willing to spend 30 minutes in Photoshop, did they at least install an ad blocker ffs? someone gave enough of a shit to put VLC on there at least…

Reminds me of an episode of Harmontown where Schrab was complaining about the chairs and Dan said, “can we get Schrab like, a sarcastically comfy chair?”

    Exaggerated accommodation. Comedy gold

This needs to be made standard after a mandatory age verification check during Windows activation. Sorry boomers, you’ll be patronised by Windows even more than regular users
