Pope Francis apologizes for using a homophobic slur during a meeting with bishops | CNN

“The Pope never intended to offend or express himself in homophobic terms, and he extends his apologies to those who felt offended by the use of a term, as reported by others,” the Vatican said in a Tuesday statement.

“As he (Pope Francis) has said on several occasions, ‘in the Church there is room for everyone, everyone! No one is useless, no one is superfluous, there is room for everyone. Just as we are, everyone.’”

Seems like they’re playing it off as “grandpa had a woopsie”.

The pope never intended to express himself in homophobic terms, it’s just that he is so homophobic that it slips out sometimes.

I’m out of the loop, but isnt Francis a “good” pope? Being more progressive and more accepting of homosexuals?

Accepting of homosexuals so long as the never act on their feelings. Catholics accept anyone so long as they follow Catholic rules. That’s always been their position.

This is some nottheonion shit. Hopefully this whole thing highlights the cognitive dissonance for some folks out there who thought the Vatican were changing

They’re political hacks. The only reason they’re pushing tolerance is because they’re dying. They’re just so big with sooo many tentacles up so many assholes that tin takes a while for it to become Obvious.

This is not to say religion is dying. Just Catholicism.
