The current generation that makes these decisions does not give a shit. And guess what? If history repeats itself, and it usually does, the next generation that wields power will do the same thing.

How is a malnourished child in Palestine, starving because of the US and Israel’s genocide, expected to fight?

How is an elderly man whose legs were cut off by Israeli “doctors” expected to fight?

How are the people who’ve endured months of torture including being sodomized with hot metal bars expected to fight?

And what are most of us, deliberately subjugated by oppressive governments running under the guise of “democracy” supposed to do?

At the bare minimum, we can speak out about it and let people know it’s not acceptable. We can share information, participate in protests and boycotts, let our leaders know we won’t accept it, donate what we can if we are able, create spaces where we can freely post about it, talk about it, let people who try to downplay or “both sides” it know that it’s not okay, call out people who ignorantly and stubbornly defend those making it happen. I’ve heard firsthand from people in Palestine that it does make a difference.

So sure, not all of us can fly that X-wing into the Death Star, but the people who are truly harmful are those who try to downplay the Empire’s atrocities, who throw up their hands and do nothing, who pretend that the Empire is a Republic (with all evidence to the contrary), or worse who try to both-sides or even deny it. The craven liberals who lecture us about how we need to just accept the status quo like good little bootlickers.
