This book was extremely good. It’s a dark fantasy/horror novella set in the 1920s about a group of people fighting the Ku Klux Klan, but the heroes are witches and sword-wielders, and the Klan is filled with actual, literal demons.
The author is a historian and professor, focusing on slavery and emancipation, and you can tell, because everything feels super realistic and true to the time period. This isn’t his first book either, he’s done this before: the story is so tightly plotted, the characters are alive, and it’s so funny, despite being so horrifying.
Honestly I mostly just wish it was longer.
Sounds neat, hate to disparage demons like that though.
The Klan is filled with actual, literal demons irl. Thanks for the recommendation, sounds good.
