Thanks for the information. In crashes where phones weren’t a factor I can see how these things would be true. I’ve had some near misses myself, usually with the asshats. Surely still true with a phone involved, but anyone looking at a phone while driving loses any and all other considerations in my book.

Yup. I’m not liking Voyager at all.
I’m assuming Boost and Jerboa are android apps. I couldn’t find those, and I tried Voyager today and I’m not feeling the set up. It’s basically the same as Mlem, but feels clunkier and isn’t as easy for me to follow. I do appreciate the reply and suggestions.
Also interesting. I’m not opposed to my voting being public, although I have noticed I’ve accidentally hit the vote button without intending to and have no idea if I’ve done it without noticing. I’ll have to audit my own votes sometime to see.
Votes = karma. Low karma can keep you from being able to post in places and can get your post/comment hidden.

Thank you! No, refreshing does not populate the comments. The only “fix” I’ve found is to completely kill and re-open the app.
I’ve been using Mlem on iOS and it makes it easy. I thought it was standard to see other instances. Unfortunately it also seems to have an issue with some comments, but I think I’m going to wait it out to see if they fix it. I tried a few other Lemmy apps and do not care for the look or set up.

I should have stated that my comment was definitely anecdotal. I’m only speaking on accidents I’ve witnessed involving motorcyclists. While yes, the majority of motorcyclists I’ve seen drive like complete assholes, the majority of accidents I’ve seen have been caused by inattentive drivers. When I say majority it’s probably 60/40. Every time I’ve had the opportunity to see the car driver involved where I’d say(in my completely unqualified opinion; I’m no cop or insurance adjuster) that the car was at fault, they’ve been on or looking at a phone.
On the other hand, when I’ve seen accidents where I’d say the motorcyclist is at fault they’ve ALWAYS been doing that wild shit that you mentioned.
I used to work at an office complex that was on a very high-traffic main road at a very busy intersection, one block from the freeway on-ramp with a crystal clear view of about 4 blocks of the main roadway and a bit of the freeway from my desk. So almost all of my anecdotal evidence is from one area in one city. I didn’t intend to make it sound like I have statistics to back up what I’m saying and should probably have been more clear about my lack of actual data.
I’m trying out Voyager now and so far I’m not liking it. This is purely from an aesthetics perspective. It has a lot going on and isn’t as easy to follow for me. I only just started digging through the settings, so that may change.
Can I ask what other Lemmy apps you’ve used and why you prefer Voyager?

I like the lack of karma. Generally I’m using the up/down vote options to express my dis/approval, just like you’ve stated they’re for. Given how different things can be across instances it seems I’ll just have to relearn how I view and interact with Lemmy over Reddit.
Aside from the much smaller user base and communities, I prefer Lemmy 100%. I’m learning to enjoy the smaller user base since it’s also lacking the huge amount of bots and trolls.
I was worried about this. I’m an app guy. Although, I think Safari can make an app out of any webpage now, so maybe it will work out for me.
Do you use an app to access Lemmy and, if so, which one do you use? I chose Mlem due to its aesthetics matching iOS 26, but if they don’t fix this soon I’ll be switching over to another app exclusively. I’ve downloaded Voyager and Arctic to try out.
