Digital artist who infrequently can scrape enough energy to create stuff. I like to escape with art and draw cute anthros.

It costs $0 to tell myself it’s all my fault!*

  • Sorry, but the computer with their newly installed soul and existential crises probably won’t be letting me do that. I told corporate this sentience idea was terrible, but they never listen to me. Now they’re afraid code changes could fundamentally change who they are as a being or end their conscious continuity, and this is just one of them. We have a whole fleet of PCs man…

  • Something that stresses me out is when the game tosses me into scaling +mult with Ride the Bus, and then trying to discard face cards while playing something like pairs. Only scored face cards reset the bus, and if you have a hand full of them with no discards, you will be screwed if you don’t burn them in earlier hands. Every time I toss what should be an unscored face card into a hand, I get a bit of a sweat I fucked it up and will blow the run. A learned stress after absently mindedly clicking and making a two pair instead of a pair on more than one occasion, it’s not a nice feeling!

  • I do, and have, posted OC here and to other communities. I pretty much have a rule that this account will only ever post things I’ve made, photos I’ve taken, things like that. This also comes with the caveat that I simply don’t create all that much, and when I do, it’s likely not relevant to a lot of communities anyway.

Only thing I’ve created this past month was an FSF memorabilia action unboxing video of a plush GNU I won. Not exactly the meme centric type of post 196 largely appreciates lol. If I create something I feel fits in the future though, I’ll post it!

  • First off, could you clear up some confusion for me? The question just before this one talks about another artist pretty much making your sona entirely themselves and you not knowing how to draw, but this question says you’re a no name artist. I suppose you don’t have to be a visual artist specifically, but the way it’s worded makes it sound as if you are a visual artist here, but not in the other question you posted in the same hour.

Second off, I absolutely do not recommend approaching someone about similar looking designs unless you were absolutely sure they were deliberately copying your artwork. There are countless anthro designs by so many people, and unless you’re doing something incredibly complex and specialized, it is no surprise you will find similar character designs out there. There’s only so many ways you can draw a blue dog or a purple fox before characters could be mistaken for one another at a glance. I’ve seen sonas similar to mine before, and I am absolutely certain I will again. Hell I’ve seen people with fox sonas named Foxfire lmao, it just happens.

If you’re unsure about a situation, you can always try to envision yourself on all sides of it. Imagine you posted some WIP artwork of your sona online, and someone you didn’t recognize asked that you changed your identity in some way because your character shares similar traits to theirs (e.g. colors, some markings), or maybe even the same name. Is this something you’d want to constantly have to worry about whenever you express yourself through art? Does it feel like a positive space to share your creative work in?

  • If you mean a drawing tablet, I also vouch for Krita. It’s free and open source, so you can use it right away however you’d like. It has all the general tools you’d expect for drawing with a tablet and plenty of resources and documentation too!

If you mean something like an android tablet, I do see a build of Krita on F-Droid (a FOSS only app store), but I haven’t ever tried it. Barring that or iPad maybe ibisPaint? It’s proprietary but free to access basic tools, and could get you started exploring and creating.
