Yeah, I’m with you. I feel like there’s a possibility that this person is experiencing a complex trauma that continues to affect their minute-to-minute life in negative ways, and the therapist was trying to guide them toward a kind of acceptance that could have eased some of those negative effects but their patient just wasn’t having it. Maybe not ready for it.

I’m not trying to say I know them or what’s right for them, of course, but just offer an alternative view

the point is more that no one is forcing these guys to become software engineers and go to the gym in their free time. They can do whatever they want for a living. But they don’t.

I can’t remember where I heard it but some podcaster or youtuber pointed out that it’s never been easier to have an alpha masculine job. In the past, you might be born into a class that meant you pretty much had to farm, but now anyone can join the police or the military, and yet a lot of these guys that are super concerned about the death of masculinity are not doing that.
