This system of numbers is actually mathematically consistent and has all the properties that a number system should have. But using simple algebra, you can prove that in this new number system, ⭐ = 0. And then you can also prove that all other numbers equal zero.
This number system is known as the zero ring, and it’s the ring where the only number is 0 and the following operations are defined:
- 0 + 0 = 0
- 0 - 0 = 0
- 0 × 0 = 0
- 0 ÷ 0 = 0
- 0^0 = 0
All other symbols, including 1, 2, and ⭐, are just alternative labels for 0 in this number system. In other words, defining division by zero is essentially the equivalent of reality collapsing in mathematics.
So yes, you can validly define division by zero. You just get degenerate mathematics if you do. So be careful what you wish for.

6·6 天前The California minimum wage is not indexed to core CPI. It’s indexed to CPI-W which does include food and energy.
Just to provide a number, in the 2017 update to CPI-W weights, energy was given a weight of 7.85 in the updated index, indicating that the BLS thinks the average urban worker spends 7.85% of their money on energy. Or about $196 a month if you make $2,500 a month. It may be higher now these past couple months due to recent geopolitical events, but it is within the right ballpark.

23·6 天前Correct, and the type of CPI used to index California’s minimum wage is CPI-W, which includes fuel and food weighted according to the portion of income that urban workers typically spend on them. So yes, I do encourage one to spend more time learning the basics on issues before making irrelevant notations.

112·6 天前It’s okay to be aggressive, and it’s also okay to be wrong. But one must not be both aggressive and wrong.
California’s minimum wage is tied to the Consumer Price Index. It increases every year according to inflation.
Edit: To be more specific, it is indexed to CPI-W.

Try this: Raise all the prices by 10 per cent. Give the 10 per cent discount to self-checkout customers, as required by law. Pocket the extra for people who are stupid enough to use the self-checkout. Don’t forget to give a middle finger to your local elderly people or disabled people. They’ll now pay extra for the privilege of shopping.

It was also constantly used to humiliate Elon Musk during that period by rebuking his bad takes, so he ordered successive “lobotomies” (changes to how it processes input data) on it in order to get it to agree with his worldview.
















Bringing a guillotine to a protest merely to show it off and make a statement is a great way to have blackshirts (also known as the police) harassing you about making “terroristic threats”.
Cutting fruit with it sends the same message, while also demonstrating that the device actually works and is not for show. And you have a legitimate reason for having it. What, officer? I’m not threatening anyone with this. This is a watermelon-cutting machine.
