There’s a couple ways to use Lemmy and make it nicer to use, one is curating a well fleshed out subscribed list, the other is using all but blocking every community that doesn’t interest you or has topics you actively dislike, making it just as pleasant as your subscribed view.

Personally I do both. My subscribed view is just things I like and no news communities. My All feed blocks everything I don’t like, let’s me discover new communities, and gives me a dose of news when I want it.

For the majority of people who didn’t yet have a BBS or internet connection (or a friend who would copy the shareware onto a floppy), they also sold a boxed version of the shareware version in stores for a low price, like 5 or 10 bucks I think.

I actually recently blasted through the first 3 chapters of The Telwynium by the same creator, and absolutely loved it (I’d say it was one of the best point’n’clicks I’d ever played, up there with Robin Hood from Sierra, which is the sole departure from them where the puzzles all make sense), so I’ll definitely be picking up the drifter at some point (and the steam release of the Telwynium which will have the 4th chapter).

I liked exploring it as a kid, but going back to it as an adult it kinda lost me with how gamey some of the puzzles were despite it trying to sell you on the idea that this is a lived in world. Like, who is going to design a door lock to correspond to some nearby whistling holes in the ground?

From what I’ve read, the sequel Rivan did a better job of making the puzzles feel more integrated into the world, but I only played that briefly as a kid and haven’t gotten around to trying it again.

The ‘Company’ in the list is apparently the publisher, not the developer. The Westwood Monopoly is indeed the one in the list, as it was published by Hasbro according to the wiki entry.

Hm, the captcha worked on my end without issue and I was able to watch with audio.

I tested it just now with Freetube instead (should be available in most linux repositories), and that appears to work well for me without any captcha. Hopefully it should allow you to watch it without as many issues.

I don’t see a way to download the video from within Freetube. I suppose a much more inconvenient but guarenteed method of capturing the video would be to capture it live by recording the video and audio in OBS.

If not, the video could be downloaded from there with the help of a browser addon or perhaps the youtube-dl application, then re-uploaded elsewhere for you to share.

Unfortunately can be kinda risky, as a pixel that was originally purchased through a Verizon plan has a locked bootloader thst I’ve read Verizon doesn’t generally unlock even after they unlock the carrier restriction, making it impossible to install GrapheneOS on. For those that go the used route, make sure it was not a Verizon phone.

Always thought these were cool, but at least according to this old video, they unfortunately didn’t do a good job of achieving the goal they set out to do originally :(

Ah, good find. I guess technically Mint isn’t totally FLOSS, but it does seem a bit odd for them to phrase it that way.

A ctrl+f search doesn’t show that phrase anywhere on that page?

Ahh, that explains it. Eternity was my preferred app as well, but the developer unfortunately abandoned it a year ago, and it hasn’t received an update since, making it incompatible with newer versions of Lemmy.

You may want to switch to a different app that’s actively developed. I personally switched to Summit since it has some of the best mod tools in an app, but there’s a lot of other good ones too, like Blorp or Voyager.

I purposefully made my example not function to demonstrate how it’s constructed. If done without the quotation marks, and the ::: spoiler is on its own line, it should work and show up in your app.

It may do it on all frontends. So far I have noticed if it’s taking a long time to load something, refreshing the page seems to work in getting it unstuck.

Then put the text you want to hide below it, separated by white space (enter key pressed twice).

Then end the spoiler with another 3 colons, again separated by white space.
