Avid PC gamer, Linux convert, SCP fan.
Love Science Fiction, Cyberpunk, post-apocalyptic settings; Fan of the games of the defunct Arkane Studios. Listening to (Power-, Speed-, Thrash-)Metal, Gothic, Deathrock, EBM, Vaporwave, Lo-Fi; Classic and Musicals are fine too. Can’t stand Hip-Hop.
Owned by two cats, recently divorced, blessed with a personality disorder (AVPD) - pensioned (even the state has the opinion I’m a total wreck lol). This causes me to be unable to keep up personal connections and makes me ghost literally everyone, so if it happens to you, sorry in advance.
Chronically online.
Pro GenAI, but Anti-GenAI-Corpos; this technology should be available to everyone, which would only be fair since we all contributed to it. Datasets and Models should be under the jurisdiction of UNESCO, since they are literally the distilled cultural output of humanity.

Yes, and every Russian behind their atrocitiies should burn in hell.

That is exactly the thing i was trying to emphasize - other countries do not want to deal with all of the shit coming from the current US admin. We all are very transparently aiming towards a world order where we all are not dependent on a state that switches allegiance based on how much dirt the russian opposition has on the current president of the US - and yes, he is a fucking child rapist. People who voted for him should be put on a database for potential childfuckers - that midset is infectious, at least of the level of measels, and probably even on a deeper level.

It’s not even the caring part. Especially in the US it is the economical pressure that robs people of the time they need to make informed decisions by consulting varying sources. So i would say it’s not the caring part, it’s the part where people are pressured into a high-stress environment where even a single full-time job might not pay the bills.

That’s an issue with your teacher putting the focus on the wrong part. Sorry you had to experience that. My math skills (which were mediocre at best at the time i left school) skyrocketed the moment i got a teacher that made sure we understood the calculus part and didn’t even want us to insert real numbers.

Uwe Boll Movies in general are a fun time, i agree. Don’t try to analyze them or use more intellect onto them than you need to understand what is happening on screen, and it’s really a good time.

It really depends on the usage. Especially people who are already mentally challenged in their normal life will probably just mindlessly use LLMs to get results, while neither understanding the task nor the solution. Had they engaged with the task the natural way, you will see in a longer series of tasks that their ability to solve these will increase, while the people just dumping stuff into chatgpt will learn nothing.

Yep, especially in mathematics a calculator is not much of a help in calculus. The moment you put numbers in whatever thing you wanna solve is the point where the hard part is already done.

Yeah, if i would employ my local LLM in a “solve every simple thing for me” way, it would degrade my mental acuity too. I only defer it to areas where i don’t have any fucking clue about anything anyways or struggle very much to reach an usable result, and i do not just accept whatever was spit out, i engage with it and try to understand what is happening and why, including experimentation with my own modifications of whatever i was given.
Good examples of that is my constant battle against RegEx, sed, awk and the like for string manipulation in linux. I struggle with the syntax a lot (the rules themselves are becoming clearer to me by now, mainly because i analyze what the LLM output really does).
I started at a point where i could just confidently say that a ? is a wildcard and a * is a lot of wildcards in a row, and escaping things is something people do. Nowadays i can form most simple RegEx without consulting the LLM at all.
So we really have to put this in another framework: Do you use it to replace your own thought process? or do you use it because you genuinely do not know how to solve it and are willing to learn?

I thought Uwe Boll was going to be involved when a Doom movie was mentioned and was cringing hard at that moment. Don’t misunderstand me, Uwe Boll movies are something to laugh your ass off to while stoned and therefor are not a complete waste, but still…

Season 2 is going to drop soon, i can’t wait! Can’t imagine Studio Trigger to create corpotrash.
I disagree hard. The shape of soup is temperature based.

https://tass.com/economy/2169449 -> russia allows sale of EURO-2 fuel
https://youtu.be/e4RUtVt7Mv8?t=161 -> low quality fuel causing issues with cars
I am still searching for the clip of the epic sludge in some batches of fuel. it was in a live stream of the “Inside Russia” Youtube Channel, and he posts very long and exhaustive videos, so it might take me a bit to find the source i was talking about, but these clips (especially the one from the guy who used a nylon stocking to filter the fuel) are a good basis, although what that guy had in his filter was childs play to some batches i have seen which were sold on the black market.
Edit: still searching, but to recreate the needed mental image, the crap in the black market stuff is somewhat like jello with strings in it. Even if your fuel filter is capable pf dealing with the more solid stuff, the amorph crap in there will probably make it beyond that barrier and will fuck up everything regarding fuel injection that is the default nowadays.

It is practically a condensed remainder of the previous government.
Since there are a lot less seats there, there is some rounding going on regarding distribution. This means that they will have enough seats there to give them a qualified majority to enact the legislation, and i would bet my left foot that they will do exactly that, because it will ensure their victory in the upcoming votes.

I have to add something about those “who break ranks”. These are the most dangerous people to your own movement. One false step from these people (that prefer hurting others over talking) can swing public sentiment against a completely legitimate movement. Policing them is far more important for the side they say they are on than for the opposition, which is just waiting for some dumb fucks to make mistakes that can be used in the media to demonize everyone associated.
That’s not to say that these people are a complete liability - if they are holding back when it is needed, and that is most of the time in any confrontation, they are a valuable asset! And if shit goes down, i would be happy to have them by my side. But it is very important in this medially driven times (and especially since most media are nowadays controlled by people who have no morals at all) that their flashy ways are not the standard you employ while things are still in motion.

I do agree with your fears regarding AI, although i am very sure that the real dangers lie with an fully automated surveillance state where even punishment of perceived transgressions are outsourced to AI and not in the decompilation of games.
Securely designed software has no problem with it’s source being available. This is ensured not by hidden code, but by mathematics.

Yeah, there is some fatigue to be expected if you run this thing on the regular.
But the library ecosystem is changing constantly, and that might mean that while it doesn’t find a real issue at one point that there won’t be one some time in the future. So i would say: Scan it semi-regulary for issues and review what was found, but don’t go overboard. Somewhat similar to getting an MRT every year instead of once a decade.

That depends. If an coding LLM finds a vulnerability, would you have been able to find it yourself? And the more important part is: do i blindly merge whatever i get thrown at me or do i critically engage with it, analyze why this is a security issue and how to prevent it in the future?
The thing is: an LLM can NEVER replace secure design. The best LLM can’t do shit if you have designed your software without security in mind from the start. And this also means this area will never be fully solved by machines, outside of them becoming able to code the thing securely from start to finish (and even then the design which is the basis of that software has to take security into account, or whatever you get will be insecure by default). This is one of the areas that can be massively enhanced by AI, but it can’t replace people that are able to design secure systems.

Eh, i would rather say it’s somewhere around a 40-60 split, with the difference of the educational background of those two groups heavily favouring the non-traitor side, so an upset victory against the “Army of Yokels” is in the cards.
I find it so sad that i, who really prefers that people talk with each other to overcome their differences instead of shooting at each other, don’t see any way out for the US outside of a civil war, at least if it should happen in the next 50 years.

Yeah, it actually is. It’s better performancewise than my old 3070Ti (mainly because 8G VRAM nowadays really tanks performance at higher resolutions) but i do not have the necessary cash to upgrade in the current market.
I do a shitton of heavy compression/decompression, which is why i opted for the 16-core one (because this is a really good use case for it, and it is the maximum my mainboard supports either way - that took me flashing my bios, then replace the cpu, and then flash again immediately after to ensure everything worked fine - can’t even place the old CPU back in, and no way to downgrade) - if taking the fact into account that this platform is pretty old, it still is in the upper middle part of the pack in gamersnexus benchmarks regarding these operations, and i haven’t had any game yet that really was cpu limited outside of how long turns take in strategy games.
Sorry, not gay enough. Geopolitically Trump is practically offering his anus to pleasure Putin.
