Still doesn’t look like a swastika, unless the proportions are uneven. That being said, a lot of swastikas are not drawn right. People drawing swastikas are often not the best artists.

Ask Science@lemmy.world•strange phenomenon - warm door handleEnglish
1·4 days agoThat part of the building could possibly just be warmer in general. Might not be super noticeable when inside, but it doesn’t take much to stand out when in a hallway with cold hands.
I agree it feels like a bit of a reach, but it’s the best hypothesis I can come up with.

121·4 days agoYeah, I’m sure someone in that situation would not be stressed at all, and remember to do everything perfectly. Certainly something to rely on when justifying sending an unhelpful text.

Ask Science@lemmy.world•strange phenomenon - warm door handleEnglish
7·4 days agoAre you sure it’s not the same temperature as the handle on the inside, and the stairwell is just colder? The handle on the office side could be transferring heat to the one in the stairwell.

163·4 days agoIf someone texted me that they would receive a stern talking to. What if I actually was there, and the noise from the text gave up my hiding spot? How is that text going to help me, exactly? That’s right, it won’t. You can ask that after the situation has been resolved, unless another has started in the meantime.

Mildly Infuriating@lemmy.world•Park benches don't "open" until 10amEnglish
3·6 days agoSome people need to hit rock bottom to get the right motivation, others just need a chance to get back on top. We shouldn’t accommodate the former at the expense of the latter.

Hank Green made a video on this. As long as we extract fossil fuels at current rates, raw materials for new plastic just comes out as a byproduct. This would be true even without subsidies, unless the lack of subsidies made gas so expensive that people switched to other sources of energy.

Most US produced beef is banned in countries with actual food standards due to the use of artificial growth hormones.
Yeah, this is what a pressure reducing valve is for. Basically essential these days, because now things are made to spec, and they’re not adding an extra gram of material to handle your 120 psi water main.
Fun fact: She wrote Jolene and I Will Always Love You on the same day.
We’d get a new flavor of damage. Peter Thiel flavor, to be exact.
If paying with cash inside before pumping, yes. Then you basically guess how much you need and pay that.
With a card, you “pay” with the card first, but it doesn’t charge the money until after you finished pumping and it knows what to charge.

Mildly Infuriating@lemmy.world•Doorless showers just make a mess and everything ends up wetEnglish
1·12 days agoAnd I’m saying the code is there independently of doorless showers. The code was like that before doorless showers became common.
In fact, if your shower has a door and the only drain is inside the shower, you are required to leave a gap under the door to allow water to flow into the shower.

When did you grow out of having fun?
