I’ve been thinking recently about whether Oz would have been better as a PA senator, hindsight is a bitch. Fetterman is getting rightfully lit up in the news over basically everything recently. Has he made a difference for good on any policy versus what we could reasonably predict Oz would have done as senator?

If you think you’re gonna bait me into defending or denying America’s history of foreign intervention then you’ve got another thing coming. It happened. Plenty of it is downright evil.

But sadly, it’s not uniquely evil. Russia is waging an imperialist war of aggression and attempting a genocide of the Ukrainians, all while enriching their oligarchs as their civilians starve. China is repressing the Tibetans, committing genocide against the Uyghurs to create a Han ethnostate, threatening Taiwan, and is violating maritime borders in the South China Sea with their expansion of their naval presence.

Dissent, especially in China, is heavily policed. They took our dystopian monetary credit system and cranked it up to 11 with social credit, and work their people to the bone with companies in the country defying the ban on the 996 schedule enforcement. Russia considers LGBT people as a whole dissenters and arrests them simply for existing. Prominent political dissidents of Putin are simply murdered.

The fact that you and I are allowed to post about America’s past transgressions and speak highly critically of the government (and believe it or not, I do that quite a lot) is proof that we as a global superpower are freer than them, and principally why I categorically reject the notion that we are the world’s primary evil. It’s just not that simple. But I’ll take our flawed, bourgeois democracy over domination by than the outright fascist rule by our competitors.

But above all that I prefer peace and freedom. No more violence in Palestine, Yemen, Syria, Ukraine, Tibet, and Xinjiang. Civil rights and decent living conditions for all.

True leftism is “when America bad” and the more “America bad” you spout, the more to the left you are. Having nuanced and principled opinions is inferior to campism, gotcha.

I mostly know of him from Behind the Bastards, a podcast about prominent historical figures (usually 1800s through present). The twist, apart from their regular Christmas “Non-Bastard” episodes is of course that these influential people actually behaved questionably at best during their time. I really think Robert’s research and storytelling are great, he and the guests he brings on really can make an hour fly by sometimes. Most of the biographies are split up into a couple parts, with people like Kissinger and Vince McMahon having such dubious pasts to earn them 6 parts each.

Anyway, the interview with the AI home assistant dude was from another podcast which he frequents, called It Could Happen Here, a more news-oriented podcast. Both of the podcasts can be found on YouTube, published by Cool Zone Media. I believe they did 3 episodes of CES coverage for this year, the final part contained the interview. After all the dunking Robert talks about another interview he had at CES which was a lot more uplifting.

Robert’s interview with the AI home assistant robot guy this year was unintentionally amazing, the dude was dressed like Jordan Peterson (ie. an insane person) but had all the interviewing skills of a parboiled potato. And he had no clue that Robert was clowning on him so hard.

Trump would absolutely make the genocide significantly worse than the track it’s currently on if he wins. And he’s gonna make life in the US worse too. The “both sides are equally bad” rhetoric has absolutely failed over the last 8 years. If he lost in 2016 the entire world would be on a completely different track and if you don’t want to believe it then I’m confident that you don’t actually know the differences in policy and ideologies between the Democratic and Republican parties.

And before anyone says I’m accuses me of being a liberal, I’m a libertarian socialist and I’m registered to the Socialist Party of Massachusetts. I voted Bernie in both primaries then Green Party in 2016 (which I’ve come to regret even though Clinton was going to win my home state by a huge margin) then Biden in 2020. I voted this way in '20 because while Biden ignores socialists Trump wants them all dead.

In my area I can sometimes find these light blue colored ones that are super rigid, I think they’re made of agave? Regardless of the material, I think they’re actually just better than plastic for once.

That’s all well and good, maybe guns are inherently problematic. But since no one is paying attention to my wording I’ll just say it:

Right wingers and neo-fascists commit the majority of gun violence in this country and will absolutely never give them up. They are not the poor and unsophisticated rednecks you’re told they are, they tend to be richer than average and their brand of violence is calculated. Many of them are current and former police officers and therefore won’t take their friends’ guns away just because the law says so.

If you’re poor you’re less likely to be white and straight and therefore more likely to be harassed or killed by the aforementioned groups.

This is not me saying that it’s time to give up on gun control laws or that we need more guns. Fewer guns in the US will mean a more peaceful country. I’m saying that laws that simply make it more expensive to buy and own guns will not deter violent people from buying them because they impose no restrictions on them.

Do only rich people deserve guns?

Do the most vulnerable people in society not deserve a means of self defense or self sufficiency when you consider the demographics of lower earners?

What is the spirit of this legislation - what kind of person is supposed to be targeted by this? What kind of person actually commits gun violence?

Yeah, the marbling is crazy, you can cook it and cook it and you’ll never run out of fat in it. I only did a couple minutes on each side though so it was extremely rich. Even a ¼lb was probably a little too much when I had it. Non-hamburger beef is more of a treat to me at this point, I think I enjoy it a lot more when it’s a rarer occasion.

Yeah, I don’t usually like arguing semantics but the serotonin thing grinds my gears since there’s so many causes and treatments to depression and serotonin isn’t even involved in many situations.

The most expensive thing I’ve had that was really notable (as I’m sure I’ve ordered something pricier and thought nothing of it) was half an A5 wagyu steak from Wegmans. I think it was originally around $250/lb but it was on a manager’s special sale. I think it was around $80 for a ½lb, which is genuinely insane to me knowing that manager’s special means it’s the last chance to buy something before it goes bad.

Anyway, it was really good. A very odd experience though because afterwards I kinda stopped craving/ cooking/ ordering beef for a couple months. It was like I achieved some superlative thing and was just done with the concept of beef for a little bit. A strange reaction to such a positive experience, that said I do still eat beef occasionally.
