Peter Thiel has a reputation for being evil but smart. This guy didn’t seem so smart, just cocky and ambitious.

It gets worse:
Instead of seeking expert advice on how to retrieve the weapon, one officer decided to activate the emergency shutdown button.
“This action caused the MRI’s magnet to rapidly lose superconductivity, leading to the evaporation of approximately 2,000 liters of helium gas and resulting in extensive damage to the MRI machine,” the suit said.
The officer then retrieved his gun, but left a magazine full of bullets on the floor of the MRI office, the suit says.
The USA won’t allow it; it will facilitate it.
Police ultimately tracked down a “contract” signed by both the runaway parents and one would-be buyer, who was identified by authorities as Cody Martin.
It read: “I Darien Urban and Shalene Ehlers are signing our rights over to Cody Nathaniel Martin of our baby boy for $1,000 on 09/21/2024.
“Disclaimer: Alter signing this there will be no changing yall two’s minds and to never contact again.”
I feel sorry for the baby, but that’s some top-notch contract writing.
Biden didn’t seem to mention that Israel has conducted more than a thousand air strikes on Lebanon in two days, killing many hundreds, possibly thousands by now:

Are all of those thousand air strikes “justice”?
Some Republicans are literally working for Russia; the rest just love Putin and the reactionary religious conservatism and oppression of minorities he stands for. In either case they effectively work for Russia.
And the law forbidding promotion of the “childless lifestyle” achieves oppression of women, nonreligious people and LGBTQ+ people all in one go. Republicans will certainly want to do something similar.
That’ll give Netanyahu the perfect excuse to continue slaughtering thousands of civilians.
This article is from 2018.
That sounds like Trump accepts Putin’s line that this war was the fault of Ukraine and NATO.
And I specifically mentioned the USA because that’s the country where OpenAI operates and where the events in the article take place, so if someone asks why it’s so easy for OpenAI to go from being a nonprofit to a for-profit company (this was the issue I was responding to, not some general question about whether money has influence around the world), it’s the laws of the USA that are relevant, not the laws of other countries.
It all gets publicity, and he won in 2016 on the back of months of free outrage publicity. All the time our attention is on him, it’s not on his opponent.
I don’t see where I said that.
Ah, but one asshole gets very rich in the process, so all is well in the world.
Many of our home customers’ feedback indicated a preference for the certainty provided by an annual plan. The annual plan offers assurance that you always have access to the latest version with innovations such as improvements we’ve made in compression speeds and algorithms. It also ensures you have access to critical updates and are protected against new threats and risks.
I think they made that up. I highly doubt their customers expressed any such preference.
They’re even doing an eager supervillain hand rub in the photo, delighting in the pain they’re about to inflict.
Was their office under a rock somewhere? How had none of them stumbled upon what every other programmer in the world does?
Amazing. They’ve tried asking Israel nicely while sending them hundreds of billions of dollars’ worth of weapons, and still Israel doesn’t stop? Better ask again while affirming unconditional support for Israel, coming down hard on anyone who criticizes it, and sending more bombs and missiles for them to use. Surely that will do the trick.
Most organizations will avoid patching due to the downtime alone, instead using other mitigations to avoid exploitation.
If you can’t patch because of downtime, maybe you are cheaping out too much on redundancy?
Right-wingers reach for these religious or moralistic justifications and laws, but Putin is probably just noticing, like many other countries, that their economy is screwed if their birth rates continue to decline. And yet the planet is screwed if we continue to increase. As climate change eats away at the habitable areas of the planet, the obvious thing is for habitable countries with declining birth rates to accept many immigrants from places climate causes people to flee from. This will help those people and help the receiving country’s economy. Unfortunately the right wing is also too wrapped up in xenophobia to accept this solution. They’d rather double down on controlling women.
