  • More to the point, in America, the USDA regulations allow for hard pack ice cream to have up to 40% of its volume expanded with air.

WAAaaaay back in the early 2000’s after Unilever bought them, I bought a pint of Ben & Jerry’s Vanilla ice cream and got home and it sat on the counter and melted - much to my dismay - (It ended up under a towel and did not get put away.)

When I opened it, the level of ice cream in the container had dropped down by almost a quarter. What the hell? So I got another pint and at that time noticed that it was easier to scoop - a sign that there’s air being incorporated.

    Yeah… nope. Done.

Haven’t bought Ben & Jerry’s in over 20 years. (besides, there’s a real homemade ice cream shop around the corner from my home - it’s what I get now and I support the woman that runs it.)

  • I have come across a bunch of long-term reddit users - over a decade at least - say similar things. Not many newer users. Definitely some sort of weeding going on.

Eh, I found old.lemmy.zip and haven’t skipped a beat. I like that there is no cumulative post totals. Cuts out the karma farming entirely and keeps the focus on conversation, which is nice.

  • Ya, I am out of there, finally got banned after 14 years for using a metaphor of a naugty child being punished to describe President Miller and it was less than a minute after I made the post that I was done.

The bots are being used to draw out arguments and get people reported. The rightward pivot once the IPO happened was breathtaking in it’s speed. Most of the subs I had subscribed to were tech, Apple, vintage computing, games, graphics/photoshop/digital painting and the like.

Within a month of the IPO I started seeing subs in my feed that were political and very rage-bait content filled. It was subtle to say the least. Should have been more aware of the change and avoided it. Honestly will say I stepped in it.

I tried to delete my account and through the new Reddit, it would not let me. Ended up getting a letter a day later claiming that my account had been investigated and the ban was permanent but I never challenged that fact.

I spent the night afterwards logged in to my old.reddit account and used it to delete all the content I posted that was not archived. It tried to kick me out with a blank “You’ve been banned” page several times but I kept bouncing between different browsers and refreshing all my old.reddit logins and finally managed to clean everything I could, out.

Something there is definitely up as the fact that the AI firm (chatGPT? not sure) they partnered with isn’t dipping into the datasets to train on as was intended, and was part of why the stock took a nosedive a month ago.

Definite fuckiness on Reddit right now.
