
Kinda unfortunate the article didn’t mention that a lot of the miners are narco trafficers who have diversified from cocaine to gold.
This makes indigent resistance especially tricky, as they’re heavily armed and happy to kill.
And the State of Ecuador is currently run by a known narco trafficker, so the indigenous have to face armed oppression from both the narcos security squads and the State police.
