Common Council members Khalif J. Rainey, Milele A. Coggs, Mark Chambers, Jr., Russell W. Stamper, II, Lamont Westmoreland, Andrea M. Pratt and Larresa Taylor are set to host A Conversation on Civic Engagement, a Hip-Hop Week MKE networking event, taking place TONIGHT - Monday, August 21 from 5:30 – 7:30 p.m. in the City Hall rotunda, 200 E. Wells St.

This event, in collaboration with Power Hour, features a dialogue on the importance of civic engagement to urban communities and ways to encourage it. There will be a feature presentation by keynote speaker Councilman Dupré Kelly from Newark, NJ. The event is free and open to the public, and will be moderated by DJ Homer Blow.

“Civic engagement is a vital part of uplifting our communities and getting everyone involved in the democratic process,” the Council Members said. “We hope that many residents attend, and that they walk away with a better understanding of what civic engagement really means.”

The event is sponsored by the City of Milwaukee, Alderman Rainey, Alderwoman Pratt, Alderwoman Coggs, Alderman Chambers, Alderman Westmoreland, Alderwoman Taylor, Alderman Stamper, the Brewers Community Foundation, the Rave Eagles Club, Associated Bank, General Capital, the Metropolitan Milwaukee Association of Commerce, Forest County Potawatomi, and Ascension Hospital.
