Need to let loose a primal scream without collecting footnotes first? Have a sneer percolating in your system but not enough time/energy to make a whole post about it? Go forth and be mid: Welcome to the Stubsack, your first port of call for learning fresh Awful youā€™ll near-instantly regret.

Any awful.systems sub may be subsneered in this subthread, techtakes or no.

If your sneer seems higher quality than you thought, feel free to cutā€™nā€™paste it into its own post ā€” thereā€™s no quota for posting and the bar really isnā€™t that high.

The post Xitter web has spawned soo many ā€œesotericā€ right wing freaks, but thereā€™s no appropriate sneer-space for them. Iā€™m talking redscare-ish, reality challenged ā€œculture criticsā€ who write about everything but understand nothing. Iā€™m talking about reply-guys who make the same 6 tweets about the same 3 subjects. Theyā€™re inescapable at this point, yet I donā€™t see them mocked (as much as they should be)

Like, there was one dude a while back who insisted that women couldnā€™t be surgeons because they didnā€™t believe in the moon or in stars? I think each and every one of these guys is uniquely fucked up and if I canā€™t escape them, I would love to sneer at them.

Last weekā€™s thread

Please sneer at this article. I thought it was pissweak myself.

Edit: ā€œHear me out: RFK Jr could be a transformational health secretaryā€

Will a Republican-controlled Congress allow for more government regulation ā€“ even if it saves lives?

    No. Next question.

should RFK Jr be able to abandon his numerous conspiracy theories about vaccines, he can be the most transformative health secretary in our countryā€™s history

this is exactly the sort of shit centrists were writing about trump in 2016. I guess they canā€™t get away with doing that now so theyā€™re just writing the same pieces but about his underlings

Itā€™s very ā€œshould RFK Jr become a completely different person to the person he is and has been for years, he could really do some great stuffā€

      Jesus Christ.

This guy is a classic example of kook magnetism with a side of Dunning-Kreuger.

Job history is sus as hell too: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Neil_Barsky

Some dweeb with a journalism degree gets a job at a hedge fund right out of grad school, bombs out, ā€œgoes back toā€ journalism. Newspapers canā€™t get enough of this kind of guy; not surprised TERF Islandā€™s paper of record picked him up nor am I surprised that they think RFK Jr might be good actually.

With a touch of, and maybe Iā€™m being mean, ā€œthis particular bad thing shouldnā€™t happen to someone like me! it must be that no one else tried hard enough to fix it till nowā€

I thought it was particularly telling that he says someone else in the ā€œmetabolic healthā€ world warned him not to be mean about RFK. Take that as a sign that youā€™re in kooksville!

Ugh, but also, good point. Itā€™s like Engineerā€™s Disease fucked The Secret and made something even worse.

I think it happens often enough when someone rich and/or famous becomes disabled or has a disabled kid. See the whole world of alternative treatments for autism.
