Because it discusses (and mocks) patriarchy, portrays a matriarchy, talks about the struggles of being a woman in America, and has no male characters that aren’t effete, silly, and impotent.
It’s a great movie.
And it also displays what pressures patriarchy causes to men. Even matriarchy is shown as broken (and a metaphor for the reverse in our real world history).
It’s promoting emancipation equally for male/female/anyone
Sure their matriarchy is also broken, but at least they overturned Citizens United and Santa Clara County v. Southern Pacific Railroad Company. I’d take a bit of that.
They did all that in the Barbie movie?
They did all that in the first five minutes of the Barbie movie.
