Everyone should have empathy for everyone no matter who they are … except for Hitler … and Elon Musk

If you truly want everyone to have empathy for everyone no matter what then you can’t make exceptions. If you can make exceptions you allow for others to do so too while maintaining the guise of being empathetic. Even if you, your loved ones or anyone else you deem worthy of empathy are the exception in their eyes.

That’s a false dichotomy, as pointed out here:

It’s not about tolerance though. You can both have empathy for someone and not tolerate their behavior.

If we don’t have empathy for the people we can’t tolerate we will only ever fight symptoms and not root causes.

This is especially made clear with the example you gave. Because guess what, we have nazis on the rise again.

Whenever someone uses the expression “How dare you” when something is getting done to them… it really doesn’t sit well with me. It’s like someone should be afraid to do something against them, for some reason. Like they are better than everyone else. Screw that noise.

Yeah for me when someone saying that it means that they are saying that it absolutely shouldn’t be happening to them. Usually it is said by people who it should happen to.
