It’s wild to me that there’s a possibility that we could reduce the number of victims with early intervention but won’t even begin to talk about the idea because bringing it up gets people labeled as predators. “Oh you think some people are born that way and don’t want to hurt anyone and you think they should be helped so that they don’t hurt anyone? You sound like a predator because you’re defending predators.”

We’re a long way off from being able to have that conversation. Too many people would try to take advantage of the sympathy to get away with some disgusting acts.

“We can’t help X populace because Y populace would ruin it.” Never heard that argument before. Another reason it wouldn’t work, someone with a frame of mind that MAP = pedo would dox everyone on that list.

There’s never going to be a time we’re “ready” for that conversation. So the conversation needs to just start so that when we’re ready the ball is already moving.

To be clear, fuck pedos. People that actually diddle kids, absolutely fuck you kill yourself. But, people that have those urges and are working on themselves to control said urges? Good on them. And I absolutely wish them the best of luck in their endeavours and hope they’re able to find someone and somewhere they can talk to without stigma.
