Because conservatives do not actually care about reducing the number of abortions that happen. If they cared about that, they would be all-in on affordable access to contraceptives and comprehensive sex education. Which they also, as a movement, oppose.
Conservatives do not care about reducing the number of abortions. They care about punishing the women who get them.
Punishing women for having non-procreative sex. When I have debated forced-birthers online it always comes down to that, but it takes a while of defeating other arguments that don’t make sense for that to come out. They are willing to force women to give birth in order to punish the mother for having recreational sex. They don’t seem to really care about the suffering of children this causes or the quality of their lives.
- They are okay with men having normal recreational sex
- They attack women for having normal recreational sex
They want men to have sex with women, and they don’t want women to want it. They are pro-rape of women.
forced-birthers
i like this term, i’m going to steal it
Makes sense. Anyone who was on the fence about getting an abortion would have to weigh the possibility of getting charged criminally if they wait too long and/or the state government finds out about the pregnancy. The ban and all the ridiculous state laws created an urgency to get an abortion where there was once time to consider options.
Having to work hard to find an appointment then travel for a day or two while spending perhaps hundred of dollars getting there might also cut down on last minute indecision too, I’d imagine.
So you’re telling me the nation known for rebelling against the status quo, known for the prohibition era being the most rampant era for drinking in American History, also had more abortions once they were made illegal?
Impossible.
Well who would want to raise kids in a place like this…
It was only ever about political optics. Republicans don’t give a shit about anything except funneling tax money to billionaires.
I disagree. The new house dealer said it aloud. They want to force-breed more wage slaves.
While trying to tie cutting the IRS to Ukraine funding.
Nothing makes you excited to have a daughter like knowing she may be forced to carry an unwanted pregnancy
The Christofascist movement seeping through the seams of our society like the wet fart it is, is one of the leading reasons my wife and I decided against having children - between that and climate collapse, chucking a kid into this dumpster fire just so we can have our ‘widdle bundle of joy!’ seems to be one of the most cruel and selfish things we’re physically capable of.
…or, were physically capable of. 💉🍒✂
It’s the thing that pushed me to make sure I don’t have any more kids.
Go Ohio! Vote yes on 1
… I think that’s like next week. Ohio may add protections for abortion to their state constitution.
The time is NOW, Ohioans! My parents both already voted in Ohio to make sure nothing went wrong that might get in the way of their votes being counted. The vote is yes on issue 1 to protect abortion rights in Ohio.
Ohio? Wow!
Unfortunately a few months ago the anti-abortion crowd tried to change the threshold for constitutional amendments to prevent this, and people were asked to vote No. They succeeded in stopping it, but the constitutional amendment to protect the right to reproduction health decisions for next week was given the same Issue number, and people are now confused because just a few months ago they were told to vote No.
Voters are legitimately confused, and there is a lot of effort to clarify and inform the public that to protect reproductive health decisions and the right to abortions to vote Yes on Issue 1 this time.
Ohio does have a law that limits abortions to 6 weeks currently, but was put on hold. If Issue 1 does not pass, the 6 week ban on abortions could go into effect at any time, so Ohio needs some help encouraging people to go vote, and clearing up the confusion around Issue 1.
I don’t know how anyone could legitimately still be confused when theirs vote yes (for parents rights) and no (protect children) signs everywhere. If someone can’t figure that out they have to be purposefully ignorant imo.
Hahaha who’s pro life now you christofacsit dumbfucks!
Christofacesit what now?
Because typos and autocorrect don’t happen.
It didn’t this time, that’s for sure.
Time for you to spin up an AI image generator.
Is anyone here actually surprised?
oh it’s just trendy to be contrarian, the numbers will die down when they realize they’re going to jail /s
Just like we knew it would.
