in grade school i believed the ancient alien thing for the same reason. i mean come on — that would be so fucking cool if that really happened
similarly i really hate the /r/askhistorians ““real history”” bullshit – who fucking cares? i’m not giving a talk; i’m not academically studying it; some minor quibbles being wrong or sort of cited in a less than great way or ““inaccurate”” but what is commonly accepted as “accurate” changes all the time; “accepted science” or history or anything is an evolving thing that changes. maybe some ““not good enough”” to be posted on our special little reddit club posts are still valid brainstorming or thought or theorizing.
