9/11 was a terrible tragedy, but nowhere near as terrible as our government’s response to it. Bush had the country more unified than at any point since WWII after the attacks, and instead of using the attack as a catalyst to bring the country together, he used it as a wedge to drive us apart. Then the government continued using the event as an excuse to expand their power, violate the constitution, and snap up liberties.
