Because Zelensky knows that Trump is not America. Trump has control at the moment, but he’s not going to be able to hold it, and if America survives Trump, we will still be a superpower capable of helping Ukraine defend itself against the invasion. So he comes and sits for the photo ops and the stupid meetings with idiots, because it makes it harder for Trump to act like Zelensky is the bad guy.
