Because blue fantasy is notoriously hard to make palatable in a movie format, and a 15 year old kid writing blue fantasy mixed with hackney tropes is definitely not good material to pull it off. The first book was a decently fun romp, and then the rest were just meh.
I honestly liked the books too. But I also know they aren’t exactly literary masterpieces and I had to think of something to juxtapose against LOTR :) … and then there’s the movies 😵
Tell them this is the second best Sci-Fi/Fantasy movie you’ve seen.
When they ask for the first best, tell them “Eragon”

I loved Eragon as a kid. I read all the books in release. The movie was so embarrassingly bad even for my ten year self.
