From Lion Shield who created the rather great Kingdoms & Castles, their next game Nova Roma has been confirmed for Early Access release on January 22, 2026.

    Kingdoms & Castles was really good. It looks like they’ve applied some of their experience from Kingdoms & Castles in Nova Roma.

    The Roman city-builder sub-genre is so busy right now. Compare that to 2005, when you would be lucky to get a city-builder or tycoon game released in ~6 months.

    I’ve played kingdoms and castles more than any other city builder, I think (so, a lot). I’m stoked for this release.

      Kingdoms and Castles is a lot of fun, you can make extremely elaborate Island Kingdoms with enormous defense sea-walls and tower the go into the sky.
