I used to drink quite a lot, i’m not sure if i ever really liked it in hindsight. I never had alcohol at home and i never drank at home. I completely quit 10+ years ago, and ever since then i kinda realised how weird drinking and drinking culture really is. People who drink, can’t comprehend how it is even possible to not drink. Some people try to sell you alcohol like their life depends on it. “C’mon, it’s really good” “it’s just a glass” “you can’t even taste the alcohol”

The most disturbing thing to me is when you hear people talk about alcohol when they talk about or plan a party. “Will there be enough? Oh god if we run out of beer, what then? People will flip out.” I honestly find it super weird how all present and accepted it is, while other things aren’t. Like i had a girlfriend who was a good wine drinker. She would order a lot of wine, to just drink by herself, which was always no problem for her, because it was legal, but things like smoking weed was the devil, because it was illegal.

This is emphatically not true. Some of us have gone through a period of teetotalling (me for a decade, for example). ALL of us, no exceptions, started off non-drinkers and became drinkers later. We have literal living memories of not drinking.
