Guy with formerly great team that lacks discipline doesn’t like calls he’s getting.

Take it up at the next rules vote or do a better job, I don’t hear a lot of complaints from teams that are winning.

Edit: Just have to add it’s pretty rich hearing the guy who ruined basketball with the 3 pointer every possession offense complain about having to adapt.

When they were winning that team had beautiful basketball to watch. That didn’t ruin the game at all. The off ball movement was a thing of beauty.

Kerr is just mad he doesn’t have dray out there to explode one of joker’s testicles with his natural shooting motion.

Kerr isn’t wrong here, but he’s also a massive part of the problem and his inability to call out his own players for this exact foul baiting behavior makes his point much less profound. He loves to point his fingers at “the league” when he’s losing.

I don’t think he’s necessarily calling out foul baiting specifically, as jokic didn’t foul bait this game. They are definitely legitimate fouls in today’s game, however they shouldn’t be bc they’re incidental contact and when these fouls are called on incidental contact it makes defense impossible.

Foul baiting is definitely a problem in the league (Joel embid) just in this specific game it wasn’t minus two shots by Murray imo.

He loves to point his fingers at “the league” when he’s losing.

Fair for sure, but I definitely think his sentiment that it makes the NBA as a product much worse is absolutely true.

I was just using the language Kerr uses in the clip. I think you’re right, most of these were real fouls. Jokic definitely has some flaily tendencies, (he got his last two free throws throwing his arms up while setting a screen on Wiggins on a handoff, for example, which was a questionable call at best) but overall he is not on the level of Embiid. My point was just that Kerr only seems to think it’s a problem when his team is being disadvantaged. Curry gets a pretty friendly whistle in this league too. CP3 as well. Both benefit from marginal contact calls and the latter is notorious for baiting refs into calls.

If you watch the whole press conference (or at least what is posted on nba.com) he spends 20 seconds talking about how they played well, but not good enough, and then gets asked about the Jokic free throws, and spends a full minute talking about how the league is failing us all and then abruptly excuses himself. It just rings hollow to me. Not saying I disagree with the sentiment, just saying that he may not be the best messenger.

his sentiment that it makes the NBA as a product much worse is absolutely true.

I couldn’t agree more, that’s why I said he isn’t wrong here. Too many foul calls overall. Particularly in situations where the contact is so marginal. Would love to see the players do more playing.

I saw that play where Steph Curry ‘pushed off’ of the Joker and got called for an offensive foul. Curry did push off a bit but that’s usually a no call, and I’ve seen guys get fouled up for embellishing far less than the Joker did 2 or 3 times this year, but Jokić is not the name on the back of the jersey in those cases. Kerr’s benefited from superstar calls as much as anyone in the league
