I have a few community ideas that I’d like to gauge interest in. Don’t necessarily want to flood the instance with empty communities. Feel free to pose your own ideas as well. See comments!
LGBT community (/c/lgbt)
A sfw (with nsfw memes allowed but not porn) community for its namesake.
EDIT: I have made it! See: !lgbt@burggit.moe. Ping for responding user: @AWildLoliAppeared@burggit.moe
How is this NOT already a thing?
That was my reaction!!
Lol I’m quite surprised there are actually queer people here. I assumed since this is a, well, free speech Lemmy instance, this place would be filled with anti-LGBT people. So I minimized talking about it here.
Like rinkan mentioned, the admins have been pretty outspoken about how being free speech oriented is not the same as being a bunch of assholes. For example, from this featured post:
What Burggit is not We are not another Kiwifarms, Gab or Voat!
While we’re fine with people posting offensive speech and imagery, we won’t allow them to use their right to “Free Speech” as a weapon against the overall health of the platform. Threatening, Berating, Dogpiling, Doxxing and otherwise being complete and total assholes to other users will not be tolerated.
I was going to write up a response, but you touched on everything I wanted to say. Good jorb. :3
The anti-harassment policy probably helps there. Also, exploding-heads having defederated us. The loli protects, apparently.
Right now loli and shota art posts are fragmented across a bunch of communities. It’d be convenient to have an all-inclusive loli/shota community, that accepts both 2D and AI, and all age ranges from infant to teen lolis/shotas. Basically it’d be something like "All loli and shota art within the site rules.
I wish that there were a multi-reddit analogue for lemmy. I’m sure it is in the works. I’m not sure I would like such a community as-is, would we just have a bunch of double posts?
Would be great if there’s something like multireddit on Lemmy, but I guess subscribing each of them is the only way to go.
I would love to see this, even if it was just a bot channel to aggregate everything else into one place.
I wonder if there would be any interest in a loli-focused writing/text community, for open RP or writing prompts or what-have-you.
Lemmy drama
Essentially r/subredditdrama or r/watchredditdie but for Lemmy. With federation choices between instances, I feel this is ripe for content. In my head I would like posts to be approve-only to ensure quality, accuracy, and non-bias (in the actual post, bias in comments is fine), but that doesn’t seem straight forward in Lemmy right now. So I would just monitor it tightly. There’s lots to be said about lemmynsfw vs Burggit vs whateverthatotherinstanceis, so I would enjoy such an instance.
I’d be interested in this so long as there’s clear rules to not bug other instances about drama related matters or add fuel to the fire, etc. Don’t know how enforceable they are since people would use alts to do it, but I just don’t want us to be anywhere close to being like KF
Yeah if people use burggit to organize brigadings that would make the others actively hate on us. No need for that…
Yeah, I would monitor that as best I could, but alts are impossible to pin down. The good thing about being defed’ed from everyone is that you would have to make an alt to do it, which would defeat at least the non-determined trolls.
Might be better not to set that particular train in motion.
NSFW
I want a /c/toddlercon. Most toddlercon (and babycon) would be allowed, with mandatory tags for more extreme stuff or AI.
This exists now: !toddlercon@burggit.moeMore real porn communities would be nice, specifically scat (should also have a hentai community tbh) & gay porn (mostly twinks).
For scat, there is !ompimp@burggit.moe. I guess that isn’t exactly the same?
It’s the closest thing we have, but yeah it’s not the same. Not sure how much interest there’d be in such a community tbh.
Absurd Patents - a community showcasing patents that should have been too obvious, too broad, too stupid or too ridiculous to be granted or enforced.
Would there be any interest in an astronomy or stargazing community? It’d be a place to share observing logs, astrophotos, and general space-related images and news, especially if relevant or interesting to amateur astronomers.
