      The persistent ideological conviction, from his grandfather‘s until his own today (allegedly), including the adoration and emulation of his grandfather’s achievements, as well as his continued deceptions around the topic, is what it makes worrisome.

      Did you read the text? Because as it appears, you purposely play down Nazi ideology.

        My sibling in Nyarlathotep, I too have Nazi ancestors, as do the vast majority of people in my country. They have absolutely zero influence on my beliefs. The simple fact that an ancestor of yours was shit means fuck all about you. You will have to demonstrate Fritze’s “adoration” and “emulation” of his grandfather and that he practices “deception” in regards to his grandfather, then I’ll listen.

        I will not reward an article that is sensationalising a person’s ancestry like this with a click.

          Yes, everybody is aware, that descendants are not the same as their ancestors. I‘m not sure what you‘re trying to argue, other than finding justifications for your willful ignorance.

          I have to demonstrate jack shit, as you are the one refusing to actually engage with the article of the post you’re commenting on (with a lame ass excuse), but instead focus on finding excuses for possible Nazi ideology, which just might still be a part of the German chancellor‘s worldview, originating through his family‘s history and the admiration for his grandfather and has lied about in the past and avoids taking a stance on until today. It‘s a perfectly relevant situation for German politics and public.

          If you refuse to read about it (there are several other sources, if you don‘t like this one), then I‘d suggest you just shut the fuck up, as you obviously have no idea what you are talking about. All you do is excuse (alleged) current national-socialist sympathies of Germany‘s top politician, without looking at the evidence. That‘s weird.

          Except of course, if you feel the inherent need to justify Nazi ideology out of your very own conviction. In that case it‘s not weird, but just expected Nazi behaviour. Would you describe yourself as a Nazi, Nazi sympathizer or right wing conservative?

              It‘s not about what I believe, as I’m merely repeating the gist of the article. it‘s all about your refusal to read the article, while still feeling the need to relativize and defend such possible convictions (and you „don‘t even like the guy“)

              (I changed that part you are quoting, while you were answering) as it’s not the right wording for what I want to say. But really interesting, that that‘s the only aspect you engaged with.

              Documents, that have been hidden in an archive but are available today, refute the earlier statement by Friedrich Merz to sell the fairy-tale that his grandfather had become a member of the Nazi party and as Merz rather improperly had claimed, “without his own intervention”.

              In the year before that (in 2003), Merz did what his reactionary friends call, “the storming of the red town hall.” It was to eliminate a democratically elected progressive town hall – of Brilon.

              With his anti-democratic battle cry of attacking the elected assembly in his local city, Merz had crossed the line. Ever since this anti-democratic incident, Merz has lost every single mayoral election in Brilon.

              To his personal infuriation, Merz was never able to repeat what his Nazi Opa had done: become the mayor of Brilon.

              Merz’s assault on the town hall was done by specifically alluding to the Nazi grandfather. Hitler’s SA or Sturmabteilung were not called storm troopers for no reason. In 2003, Merz and his troupe wanted to follow Hitler’s SA – implicitly or not.

              The SA had stormed many German town halls in 1933 – the year of Hitler’s ascendency to power – to eliminate democracy.

              Merz did all this by proudly referring to his Nazi grandfather in front of his party apparatchiks.
