I have personally found a DIY deodorant recipe of 5 tablespoons of melted coconut oil, 1/2 cup of vegetable starch (I use corn starch but most online recipes will suggest arrowroot or potato), 1/4 cup baking soda, and 20 drops of an essential oil (I like clove for extra antibacterial effect) shockingly effective, economical, and aluminum-free. You can find variations online, including ones that include beeswax or a higher melting point plant-based wax if you want to shape it into stick form instead of just rubbing some on like a lotion, but in general it really works for me. Hasn’t been bothering my skin and the scent is mild enough not to bother me like most commercial scented deodorants. I was skeptical but I gave it a shot and it’s been working great.
The prices for non-aluminium based deodorants have made that impossible.
