I take Yahtzee from Fully Ramblomatics position on video game properties being turned into movies. It is not an elevation of the source material, it is a reduction. Video games are an interactive medium and as such they are capable of artistic expression that movies simply aren’t capable of. As a result, most video games turned movies always lose something and tend to gain very little.
Obviously this doesn’t matter to movie studios who don’t care about art but are more concerned with making sure butts are in seats.
It’s a shame that we couldn’t have an Advent Children type of thing covering the lead-up to the Night of Black Knives. Surely they have the money.
Prop maker Sean Schofield, who has worked on productions such as The Witcher and The Rings of Power, posted on his Instagram account news of the film’s status on Thursday.
I know he isn’t the problem with those shows… But when the previous works are known by the respective fan communities as being terrible adaptations, you start to be wary.
I’m very eager to see how it looks, but I doubt we’re getting a trailer until at least mid 2027.
