    this is true, but not because people like these companies. it’s because businesses control politics in this country, and if you go after a major company like Disney and don’t let them do whatever they want, suddenly other businesses and donors start going “hey wait a second… we don’t want to be next, we’ll just support another guy”

      It’s both. Disney is a strong brand and going after it feels like an attack to people with strong positive associations. DeSantis lost the Disney adult vote and that’s got to be whole portions of a percent of his base.

      idk if it’s a general trend, or just in my family - but all my hyper-conservative relatives are all huge Disney fanatics - I’m talking trips to the parks multiple times a year, Disney Cruises at least once a year, all the merch, movies, etc. Sure they whine about how “woke” the movies have gotten, but they still fucking love that damn mouse
