Gretchen Whitmer responds to calls by some Democrats to vote ā€˜uncommittedā€™ in Michiganā€™s primary on Tuesday

Gretchen Whitmer, the Michigan governor, pushed back on calls to not vote for Joe Biden over his handling of the Israel-Gaza conflict, saying on Sunday that could help Trump get re-elected.

ā€œItā€™s important not to lose sight of the fact that any vote thatā€™s not cast for Joe Biden supports a second Trump term,ā€ she said on Sunday during an interview on CNNā€™s State of the Union. ā€œA second Trump term would be devastating. Not just on fundamental rights, not just on our democracy here at home, but also when it comes to foreign policy. This was a man who promoted a Muslim ban.ā€

Whitmer, who is a co-chair of Bidenā€™s 2024 campaign, also said she wasnā€™t sure what to expect when it came to the protest vote.

Rashida Tlaib, a Democrat who is the only Palestinian-American serving in Congress, urged Democrats last week to vote ā€œuncommittedā€ in Michiganā€™s 27 February primary.

If theyā€™re not the same on the topic of genocide, who do I vote for to stop genocide?

Your whole post, and that of most of the idiots pushing this ā€œYou have to vote for Bidenā€ line of bullshit always seem to make the same mistake.

I canā€™t see these kinds of comments as anything other than ā€œboth sides are the sameā€ in an attempt to get people to not vote.

I donā€™t give a shit how people vote, and Iā€™m not going to try and influence anyone elseā€™s vote. Iā€™m not a Russian bot, and I donā€™t get money from the CCP.

Put simply, Iā€™m an individual that wonā€™t vote for genocide. Itā€™s a red line. When I say that there are lots of others out there like me, Iā€™m not trying to influence anything. Iā€™m stating a very simple truth.

There a lots, probably enough to cost an election, of people that wonā€™t cross that red line.

Itā€™s especially true in Michigan where a requisite part of the coalition that is required for a Democratic win is of an ethnicity/religion that heavily identifies with the population being genocided.

When you read people stating this, stop thinking of it as some foreign operation trying to shape opinion, and recognize it for what it is. The simple truth, that people who donā€™t want Trump to be president, are trying to get the DNC to recognize.

Joe Biden loses. As a consequence of his own actions.

You can hate that fact. You can rail against the people who have genocide as a red line, and call them all sorts of things like purists, or idiots or whatever.

In the end, itā€™s just you blaming others for the consequences of one mans Hubris that they arenā€™t responsible for.

If you donā€™t want Trump to win, youā€™d better start pushing for a better Democratic candidate, rather than trying to justify genocide.

Yeah, all Iā€™m hearing when I read this is ā€œI wonā€™t vote for either candidate, and Iā€™m going to pretend that doesnā€™t help Trump.ā€

Then blame the person responsible, or feel good about supporting genocide, and child murder.

Youā€™re making a choice either way. Your vote, or lack thereof, directly helps choose the next president.

The reason the trolly problem exists is to show that morality isnā€™t some easily answered question. But it applies perfectly here.

Any choice you make results in support for Israel. Literally any choice, including ā€œno choiceā€ which is still a choice. So you have to ask yourself, if all roads lead to that specific thing still happening, should you not vote to protect the things that are still possible? Or should you throw LGBTQ+ individuals, drag queens, reproductive rights, and more under the bus?

            How very intersectional of you.

You also missed the entire point of my post. Yelling ā€˜vote harderā€™ at the people who are disgusted with genocide who engage in political discussions online wonā€™t be more than a drop in the bucket in comparison to the people who arenā€™t terminally online and are disgusted by genocide so they donā€™t vote.

Your guy Biden is throwing the election to Trump, and youā€™re blaming everyone but him.

            Good job.

Youā€™re also setting the stage for blaming leftists for his failure, thus ensuring the further right wing drift of the DNC.

            Good job.

Iā€™m also 43, every single election Iā€™ve heard the same exact argument from the DNC. Every. Single. Election.

            And nothing changes.

You know the definition of insanity? Thatā€™s the DNC.

consequentialist views of ethics literally say ends justify means.

the right thing is not to support genocide. there are two candidates who wonā€™t: Jill Stein and cornel West

And when you canā€™t vote for them in the general election without writing them in, and throwing away your vote?

Biden won Michigan by 11k votes.

Biden chose to give the next election to Trump so he could help Israel commit genocide.

There is no single ā€˜nut jobā€™ pushing anything. It is simply being aware of current demographic trends in Michigan, and knowing that Biden won Michigan by only 11k votes.

I donā€™t need to listen to someone else to decide what my opinions are. Iā€™m capable of looking at objective data, and drawing conclusions for myself. Lots of Michigan state DNC members, including the one that screamed the loudest that Clinton was going to lose are raising the same warnings about this election.

God, youā€™re so brain rotted by living in a bubble and blaming a foreign power for everything you literally are incapable of analyzing data yourself, if it leads to a conclusion you donā€™t like.

That is a really really bad place to be.

No, Biden did not win the Michigan primary by 11k. Do you know how numbers work? Your image even shows the numbers. Where do you see 11k?

He won with ~623k votes, which represented just over 81% of the total votes. Contrast that to 2020, in which he won with just over 840k votes, or just shy of 53%.

I am shockedā€¦ that youā€™ve managed to double down on your ignorance, when youā€™re literally providing the contrary information in your initial comment.

As for the rest of your comment, I think itā€™s quite obvious youā€™re incapable of coming to correct conclusions. If youā€™re doing basic math and coming out with incorrect answers? God help you.
