    I think the current attacks at Russia came in a big part as consequence of China’s growth - note US woken up in 2018-19, tried to stoke shit in HK and trade war, they failed and turned to Russia as a mean of encircling China and breaking BRI.

      but they made a major mistake , China was not very close to Russia and it was after Trump anti china policies and hardline hawks Xi kinda went to Putin’s side. Putin was also not very keen to make enemy out of US but it was the Ukraine issue which displeased him and his cohorts in the government. I remember clearly that it was the LDPR and KPRF who were very vocal about NATO intrusion in Ukraine but Putin was nonchalant about it. I will say Nixon and Kissinger were better in geopolitics , atleast they understood that Russia and China shouldn’t come together to kick their ass. Even now China can kick Russia’s butt if US normalizes relations with China but I think the hawks and incompetency in congress is very high.
