Warnock, the senior pastor at Ebenezer Baptist Church in Atlanta, said Trumpās decision to sell $60 Bibles is ārisky business for somebody likeā the former president.
Sen. Raphael Warnock, D-Ga., on Sunday excoriated former PresidentĀ Donald Trump over theĀ $60 BiblesĀ he is selling in partnership with country music star Lee Greenwood.
Warnock, who serves as senior pastor at Ebenezer Baptist Church in Atlanta, condemned Trump for selling the Christian holy text at a high price during anĀ interviewĀ on CNN.
āThe Bible does not need Donald Trumpās endorsement, and Jesus, in the very last week of his life, chased the money changers out of the temple, those who would take sacred things and use them as cheap relics to be sold in the marketplace,ā he said. āThe sad thing is that none of us are surprised by this ā this is what we expect from the former president.ā
Warnock pointed to Trumpās failed business ventures includingĀ steaksĀ and theĀ defunct Trump University, both of which have faced legal repercussions.
āIf heās not selling us steaks, heās selling us a school whose degree is not worth the paper that is written on it. If heās not selling us a school, heās selling us sneakers, and now heās trying to sell the scriptures,ā he said.
As someone who is not religious, the part that drives me nuts is this is supposed to have a copy of the Constitution in it as well.
The fact we have a sexual predator president hawking Bibles after helping stir up war in the holy land, and then inserting the Constitution inside it that says we need to maintain a sepration of Church and State blows my mind. And that same president is still getting away with using the office to make money, potentially to pay off legal bills for aiding in an attempted coup. Add on top a third of the population is very in favor of this and wants to give him more unbridled power.
