The GOPā€™s old guard know whatā€™s happening here. President Ronald Reagan must be turning over in his grave.

As theĀ House reconvenes after its Easter breakĀ on Tuesday, embattledĀ House Speaker Mike Johnson has vowed to cajole recalcitrant RepublicansĀ into finally pushing through a critical and long-delayed aid package for Ukraine.

Johnson faces stiff opposition, if not open rebellion, from the right-flank of his own party, whereĀ extreme MAGA isolationists like Georgia Rep. Marjorie Taylor GreeneĀ have threatened to oust him if he pushesĀ for more aid for Kyiv.Ā

In February,Ā Trump posted that the U.S.Ā should only provide foreign aid as a ā€œloan.ā€ He thenĀ came out againstĀ a foreign package that would have provided for both Israel and Ukraine. Ally Taylor Greene is just picking up his baton. But such chaotic isolationism is short-sighted and wrong-headed. Ukraine is doing the U.S. and the world an essential service by keeping its Russian invader in check. The geopolitical stakes are historically high, as Taylor Greene would no doubt realize if she bothered opening a history book or taking a quick glance at a European map.

Did you forget the part where they are both Republicans? The FBI, NSA, and CIA are filled with cult45 and other fascists. Always have been.

Agree, but Iā€™ve got this notion that these Republicans are what about history and geopolitics and know what Russia is up to, which gives you a much different perspective than a loon republican who has been bought

Do you all remember that right before the 2016 election, there was some sort of classified briefing for the whole Congress, and when it was over it was reported that most Congressmen (Democrats and Republicans) came out visibly shocked? It was in the SCIF, and Iā€™m having problems finding references to it that donā€™t involve some other SCIF meeting.

My headcanon is that was the meeting where everyone in Congress was told exactly how compromised Donald Trump and other Republicans are, and when asked to respond, Republicans said something like ā€œWe donā€™t care, weā€™re gonna win, and history is written by the winnersā€.

MAGA House Republicans refuse to admit the truth about Ukraine aid

How strange. They are so incredibly honest about everything else. /s
