Welcome new members! Please take a second to read the rules located in the community sidebar.
We are doing our best to appeal the Reddit ban. In the meantime, we thought it might be nice to have a new safe space to snark and have made lemmy.ca our new home.
Please bear with us while we figure the new site out and please let any former TBP Reddit users know we are here!
I RAN here!!! I had to read the post on Reddit twice I thought the lemmy.ca was a joke lol
Just in time too - JH and AMcC subs are deleting and locking the TBP posts - which I get, but I wish they’d just let us direct people here first!
Ya I tried to share on Alicia. I figured it wouldn’t last long but had hoped a few people would see it. They were quick to remove. I’m soured to that group after how sanctimonious they got over TBP shutting down and “this is why we do things the way we do over here” 🙄 like gtfo. There wasn’t NEAR the pressure and eyes on an Alicia Mccarvell sub compared to Birdie and her questionable affiliates.
Same! I don’t go on that sub because they do say some pretty nasty things about her on there and name calling for sure. I have no idea why they got all sanctimonious over there but also not surprised.
Me too! I was like what is Lemmy??? Now I’m wondering how long it’s been around…never heard of it until today 🤣
I hadn’t either. I pretty much googled ‘best Reddit alternative’ and here we are! ;)
Welcome!
If you want mobile apps, there is https://www.lemmyapps.com/
There are multiple mobile apps and web frontends available for Lemmy too
https://github.com/dbeley/awesome-lemmy?tab=readme-ov-file#mobile--desktop-apps
https://old.lemmy.ca for that classic reddit UI :)
As an alternative, https://www.lemmyapps.com/ has filters
A lot of us have been here from the Reddit protests last summer. A good number of people just didn’t go back to Reddit, or didn’t go back in the same way, and instead we’ve been working on setting up something better on this side :)
Feel free to explore and ask questions, you’ll find that people are happy (and excited) to explain more
My first Lemmy account is 5 years old, and it was close to the beginning.
It mostly grew up in site with the shutdown of third-party apps for Reddit (also known as the APIcalypse) and the selling of content to train AI.
