Samus Aran is back! Metroid Prime 4: Beyond will be released on Nintendo Switch in 2025.#MetroidPrime4 #NintendoSwitch #NintendoDirectVisit Nintendo.com for ...
The switch 2 itself was delayed til next year. The all but verified leaks and rumors originally had the switch 2 releasing this year before it was delayed. This was evidently confirmed by several different sources. Though rumors are just rumors.
I think too, that this will be a cross-gen game. But the Switch 2 will be released in fall next year, and it will be announced in spring, at least 6 months earlier.
That’s certainly a possibility. I just have this feeling that Nintendo doesn’t have any other games than what they showed us in this direct to fill up a whole extra year. Of course, that’s just a feeling.
And I feel like they may follow the Switch playbook where they show off the console in December - probably during the game awards or (ugh) on Jimmy Fallon like they did last time. Then launch in four to six months with Metroid.
Given the lack of noticeable aliasing in this trailer I wouldn’t be surprised if this footage is being run off Switch 2 hardware. Things to my eye look significantly sharper than what we’ve been getting from the switch.
This looks about comparable to the remaster from earlier, which looked incredible for a Switch game. The trailer looked nice but definitely not what we would expect from something on the level of a PS4. I don’t see a reason to doubt that the footage was the game running on Switch.
But the fact that people are debating if this is Switch 2 footage speaks volumes about Retro Studio’s skill. Jaw-dropping graphics for a Switch game.
By saying just “2025” this solidifies in my mind that this will be the cross gen game that launches with the Switch 2 around April or May or whatever.
That would be new, usually Zelda games are the ones that are the death knell of Nintendo systems.
Yeah and we can assume Tears of the Kingdom was intended to be this before the delaying actions started.
There has been no delaying, only TotK itself was delayed by a year.

Digital Foundry made a pretty convincing case that it’s running on current switch hardware: https://www.ign.com/articles/was-metroid-prime-4-running-on-switch-2. That being said, a cross-generation release wouldn’t be out of character for Nintendo.
