    So weird and historically inaccurate, reminds me of the dumbass freedom fries thing.

    Is the French-surrender meme referring specifically to losing the battle against the Nazis so quickly?

      Yes, and it’s a stupid meme anyway. France is one of the most successful military powers in Europe, historically, plus their capitulation to the Nazis was understandable given how badly the country had been decimated by World War I.

        Not to mention what happened when the British army met that same force (abandoned their equipment and fled in small boats)

      And French’s mustard (the standard American yellow mustard) who had to take full page adverts out in US newpapers to remind everyone that ‘French’s’ was a brand name and nothing to do with the ‘cheese-eating surrender monkeys’.
