Britain’s new Labour interior minister on Monday accused the previous, Conservative government of concealing the fact that it expected to spend 10 billion pounds ($13 billion) on a now-scrapped plan to deport thousands of asylum seekers to Rwanda.

    over $850k for each of the 15000 asylum seekers. For half that they could have bought each one a condo, paid for an entire university education, meals, utilities and all for the duration. Give them citizenship on completion and you’d have 15k guaranteed votes for life… 🤷‍♂️

    Whatever it takes to keep those desperate people desperate and not inconveniencing comfortable people in wealthier states.

    I don’t know how it’s even legal in the UK to send asylum seekers to Rwanda (it’s not my country, but I would say that it sure shouldn’t be). Rwanda’s doing a lot better than it was in my youth what with the whole genocide thing back then, and I have high hopes for them, but it’s still a fuck you to send desperate migrants to Rwanda.
