My house is currently about 120 years old. I’m not sure I want it to have an end of life. On the other hand - there is a very very active secondhand market for London yellow and soft-red bricks - so there are a lot of brick structures being recycled.
Timber?! That’s a fucking terrible idea. It’s inexcusable that modern homes aren’t build out of mud and wattle. Lower carbon, more sustainable, and you don’t have to do anything and end of life because it’s a stupid fucking idea that no one thinks is good.
I’m all for helping the birds but houses should be made out of timber. Lower carbon, more sustainable and easier to recycle at end of life.

Much more expensive, and how would you guarantee that it had been sustainably sourced?
