    The kick was recorded by another man, Decorius Mire, who encouraged Williams to kick the cat, prosecutors said. Mire posted the video to social media.

    Mire was sentenced last year to 18 months in prison.

            I sincerely hope you go out and try to leash community cats.

            There are many feral cats who live in almost all our communities that don’t have a home. They don’t have people who care enough to house or feed them, not to mention leashing them when outside. They aren’t disposable.

            Animal abuse deserves punishment. Hard stop. I don’t know what kind of point you are fumbling for here, but I have a hard time seeing its relevance.

              ‘community cats’ wouldn’t exist if people actually cared for them in the first place and didn’t let them roam free. I bet you’d be vocal about ‘community dogs’ roaming free to do what they want. Cuteness should’t get a pass

                You’re preaching to the choir, friend. I work in animal welfare, and TNR and fostering feral kittens are my favorite ways to volunteer. I put my money and time where my mouth is.

            ALL cats loose outside

            Torturing wild animals is cool and good, aktuly. Its weird that anyone would think otherwise. If the bobcat didn’t want me to cage it, pour gasoline over it, and set it on fire while I laughed at its animal screams, maybe it should have been licensed and penned in on someone’s private property.

        Are you aware that house cats sometimes escape or get lost? Or that some are born feral?

        I don’t know the details of this particular animal’s origins, but it’s kind of ignorant to think that a leash was even a likely possibility.

          Sure. It’s a blanket statement I use anytime I see/hear a cat outside u leashed regardless of the circumstances. It’s overall good logic to have to keep the cats, and wildlife save. If this was a dog, no one would have an issue to me saying leash your dog. Cats should be no different.

            The same goes for dogs, though. I don’t think you meant ill, but I think you maybe missed the overarching theme that this was likely a lost or wild cat. People would still find your original comment offensive, whether it was a cat or a dog, and suggesting that keeping animals on leashes ignores all-too-common cases of loss or abandonment (which I’m sure you’d agree is an ongoing problem).

        No, it would have just the cat into a tether ball. Besides it was probably a stray just chilling out doing his thing as stray animals do. Can’t blame a stray cat or dog for the actions of shitty people.

        If it was a wild animal would it be okay? They aren’t going to be leashed, so I fail to see how that changes empathy.

    Someone else, whose identity was not known when the case was presented to a grand jury, poured an accelerant on the cat and set it on fire, the indictment against Williams says. The animal running away on fire was also recorded on video.

    Didn’t Jeffrey Dahmer start out by torturing and killing cats?

      Not unusual for young kids to lack empathy, up to the point of tormenting and even killing animals.

      The vast majority grow up, develop a degree of additional conscience and maturity, and don’t go on to become cannibal serial killers.

She argued that an act of cruelty towards an animal by a child could “prove a diagnostic sign, and that such children, diagnosed early, could be helped instead of being allowed to embark on a long career of episodic violence and murder (p. 22). Her writings influenced the American Psychiatric Association (APA) to add animal cruelty to the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders–III R (DSM-III R) in 1987. In the 2013 Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM 5) animal cruelty was retained as a symptom of conduct disorder [49,50].

        Additional studies in the 60′s also documented the Link between violence towards animals in childhood and aggressive behavior towards humans in adulthood [51,52].

    Take these people of the streets, people who can torture animals like that are dangerous. It basically requires a complete lack of empathy and conscience. The only thing that keeps people like that in check are consequences. We put them in jail for torturing animals, they don’t like being in jail, so they’ll refrain from putting their wife or kids in a wood chucker later on in life.

    There are lots and lots of psychopaths around us. We only notice the obvious ones that go off the rails and make the news, but there are plenty of functional psychopaths that play being human. Politicians, managers, cops, lawyers. Jobs and positions with power attract them, because they crave control.

    The vast majority of them do not commit crimes. Mostly because they don’t want to deal with the hassle criminal prosecution entails. They don’t have to hurt others, they just don’t care if they do as long as it’s advantageous to them and doesn’t come back to bite them. How many people are sociopaths/psychopaths etc? About 5-10% are some numbers I have seen thrown around.

    I hope he feels every second of his sentence. I love animals and it almost makes me sick to my stomach to imagine it…
