I just started HR on Monday, and finished it yesterday! Definitely the kind of show that’s greatly improved by knowing nothing about it going in. I imagine if I’d read any of the analyses about the haibane and the walls before watching it, it wouldn’t have entranced me like it did. Lain is at the top of my to-watch list, but I don’t know if I’m ready to watch it. I might watch something more lighthearted first.
!It’s so rare for a show to introduce so many questions and mysteries and not answer a single damn one, and still be so good. The closest I can think of is Land of the Lustrous, but with that one I needed to read the manga and learn more. I don’t feel that need with HR; I’m satisfied with the end.!<
Glad to see some love for my favorite anime. The creators other show, Haibane Renmei is just as good (but much weirder)
Haibane Renmei is really, really good. I went in with zero expectations and was blown away. Won’t even say anything else - just watch it!
Wanted to pile on the Haibane Renmei train — what a good show!
It’s a beautifully sad anime, still play the album version of the free bird intro and blue flow song sometimes
