  • This raises some interesting questions about how the Federation Council would treat an interstellar race that hasn’t cracked warp. Thing is, by the time they are in contact with other warp-capable alien species like the Asgard, trading information and technology, they would probably then themselves be considered warp-capable, even if it was bootstrapped, so the window of time where they are traveling to other worlds and immune from the prime directive is extremely brief.

    Their half measures often make things worse in the long run. For example, because they fumbled the ball so hard with single payer healthcare, we just got marketplaces instead, so still private insurance, only now the federal government can reach in and dictate that they’re not obligated to cover this or that, which the Trump admin is doing now. Their idea of compromise is building a big button into everything they do that turns it into some heinous shit the next time a republican rolls around.
