Incorrect, conservatives would move to block releasing the estimates because it makes them look bad. Estimating is now illegal and the best we got is a guesstimate.

Selfhosted@lemmy.world•Question about accessing my services from corporate NetworkEnglish
5·18 days agoBut then you are sending credentials in clear text over the network. That will get logged on the corporate access logs ensuring a quick permanent vacation once they notice how careless the employee is, not to mention the mixing personal and work resources.
Edit: forgot to mention, most work devices also decrypt SSL traffic by using man-in-the-middle approach (unless they are very incompetent). Even stuff like personal email and shopping should not be accessed on a work device if you don’t want your work to have your passwords.
Successfully I would add.

Fuck AI@lemmy.world•King Gizzard Pulled Their Music From Spotify in Protest, and Now Spotify Is Hosting AI Knockoffs of Their Songs
2·1 month agoIt was pretty muddy but usable. I had a PSP hooked up to my car stereo via 3.5 jack on a custom dock that made it look really cool for a student on a budget back in the day (especially with the graphic the PSP could do while playing music), however whenever one of my friends would connect their iPod the difference in clarity was easy to tell.
I had basic after market speakers, with a very basic after market stereo (maybe ~$200 for both), nothing crazy but even in those you could tell. This was with a first gen PSP.
Edit: I also remember it could struggle a little with some of the bigger headphones (I had a pair of Sony MDR V6) at higher volumes (again still usable, but not ideal).

41·1 month agoAs someone that owned both, please don’t use them for audio (at least the first gen PSP, don’t know about the revisions). The audio while there is very bad compared to even BT audio nowadays. DS was especially bad that I didn’t bother with it. They are fine for retro games (and native games) even today though.

141·2 months agoLet’s not kid ourselves that that’s the limit that must not be crossed. Art, sound and code is more than one line for anyone that has written even a hello world program on any popular game engine. This is a bad faith argument with no purpose other than to muddy the waters.

The Onion@midwest.social•DOT Announces Wider Roads to Accommodate Planned Chevy “Double Wide” TrucksEnglish
1·2 months agoIt’s OK, the clearance allows them to be used as a canopy which increases the number of outdoor areas in the city and forms shade on rural areas (some trees will need to be removed to make room). Regulation will allow them to be anywhere on parks (including natural reserves), beaches and playgrounds due to their versatility. Truly the best thing since sliced bread.

2·2 months agoI had to delay mine by about 2 years waiting for GPUs to come down. Ended up building the system without one until I got something slightly more reasonable (kept 2015 card for a while since that was still newer than the rest of the system core [2012-ish]). It does suck knowing that nothing of value was the reason (crypto at the time).
Wait until you arbitrarily get asked to scan a government issued ID because you used Firefox with an ad blocker to login. I suggest you scrub your data while you still have access.
Edit: or Linux, don’t know what triggered it and I’m not providing that to some site.

Fuck AI@lemmy.world•George R.R. Martin Is Carving Up OpenAI in Court, So Far
4·3 months agoTBH if the same story had been told at the same pace as the first few seasons (and had actual consequences for dumb decisions), it could have worked.
I forced myself to rewatch it recently since someone at home wanted to and it certainly was a let down, but mostly because of how it was clearly rushed and turned into a Hollywood blockbuster. E.g. people charging into an army and surviving every time, which I know he was strongly against.
It felt like the broader strokes were there, but the show runners had no imagination of their own to make it flow properly, and might have kept more characters alive than needed to avoid upsetting fans instead of telling the story as it was meant to be told.

6·3 months agoI was thinking the same thing. If the de-obfuscation tools are already out there, it might cost them more money to keep that layer. Their developers also have to use it to read the crash logs and the like from the sounds of it. Less layers = less maintenance = less cost. More mods = keeps the game relevant.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Say your partner is gone for around a week, and you're home alone. What are you going to do that you wouldn't normally with someone around?
7·3 months agoThat sounds wonderful, even the lonely part. I feel we don’t appreciate the valance that some time alone can bring since we are social (ish) animals.

All lives matter people: All houses matter!
Others: But that one is on fire… shouldn’t the firefighters work on it first?
All lives matter people: No! All houses matter and that one is mine!!!
Short comparison that kind of gets the point across. I think it was from some comedy show like John Stewart or John Oliver and the like.
