I think this mostly has to do with the extensive use of vegetables cooked in various tasty ways. Western dishes (specifically West European) seem to have very few good techniques to cook vegetables, leading white children to hate veggies. I think this is exacerbated in Britain and their Anglo-Saxon colonies (cue the meme about British food having no seasoning).

Also, proper Asian dishes tend not to actually use much oil. Stir frying only lightly coats the outside of food with oil, very different from western deep frying.

I think a lot of this stems from the US history of screwing with Iran. Iran was somewhat open to women’s rights before the US couped their government in 1953 when their prime minister Mohammad Mossadegh tried to nationalize oil.

Under US puppet rule, Iran did implement some socially progressive policies.

After the Iranians revolted and took back control in 1979, they massively overcompensated and became extremely socially reactionary. Because of Iran’s significant influence in Islam, these views also propagated across many Muslims in the world.

Since Iran has been constantly under attack from the US, they haven’t really had any space to reconsider this view. I do think that once Israel is destroyed, and once the West loses its iron grip on the world, that Muslims and Iran will be able to reconsider their views.

In America, the terms Latino, Latinx, and Hispanic refer to basically anyone from any country in the Americas that is below the United States, geographically and ‘culturally’. It’s essentially a label Americans use to say, " oh you’re from one of THOSE shithole countries".

Based on the contradictory positions Becker takes on Russia compared to China, he’s probably just trying to appeal to liberals to grow the PSL. Saying ‘Russia not good’ is kinda necessary to prevent liberals from losing their minds right now. Does this stance temporarily screw up their real MLtheory? Yes.
