In our day we had to walk seventeen miles down the beach to get into the deep end of the ocean

it was about 400 in fees and travel down there to fight it was 500 a day unless i slept in my car or knew someone.
While I agree those services would help make a decision, I’d think climate (and where they became homeless, and where they have family) are far bigger factors.
I’ve only been transitionally homeless though, my experience and assumptions are probably very different than someone who is or has been homeless for a while.

1·15 hours agoCongratulations! That’s a great feeling.
When I was giving my dad the “you need a cane” talk, I realized most of the reasons applied to me too and so I went out and got a cane before he did. It gave me time to put “fancy looking canes” in the budget and I kind of like walking around with the squid handle one, you know?

I had a speeding ticket I couldn’t talk my way out of, what got dismissed because it was for 2 over the speed limit. Also dismissed tickets for not having insurance (apparently the card the insurance company sends you is not proof of insurance in Texas, at least according to this shitass I dealt with).
Even though the tickets were dismissed, I still had to pay court fees. Which were for twice what the tickets were.
Hence the saying, you can beat the charge but you can’t beat the ride.
Dammit they’re onto me. Time for a new account!
I think the story is more about the damn skeezy cop(s?) than their specific kinks tho
I mean, I’m comfortable considering the folk you’re citing outliers. They may all be outlying the same creepy way, but they’re not part of our distribution curve dammit
I gotta steal part of that name for my next Gloomhaven character

1·1 day agoThe 5.8% who lack a sewage system are probably who we’re thinking of. Like I know a wastewater treatment plant that serves about 300,000 people. Part of their system is a shit drying field (the last step of extracting water from shit/shit from water, after they’ve done everything else that they can, is drying and then removing the dried shit. They’ve got a few fields for that). It’s not that different in abstract to me from pipes connected to pit toilets, but the wastewater treatment plant gets water out of their shit before the shit hits the pit. They send fancy shit to their shit fields I guess.
Then again I could be misreading. It’s late and I got 30 miles in on the bike today.
