The problem with riling up crazy people is they are crazy, and as a result somewhat unpredictable.

Overall though they seem connected: not wanting to defederate from either lemmy.ml with its constant calls for guillotines (I mean… not that I don’t understand the reason for such:-) or from hexbear.net, mainstream users are being turned away.

If I hadn’t found a way to block Hexbear I’d have been gone. It took me about 2 weeks to realize the users that were the most insufferable to me were largely all from there, and I was a hair from quitting Lemmy because of it. So, for me at least you have it exactly right.

I don’t think that is generally the intent of ending a sentence with lol. It is sometimes, probably, but most of the time it is for trying to convey a light hearted, friendly attitude - like a polite chuckle in real life. Millennials do it a lot.

I would guess that it’s all about emphasis.

Kinda like:

Etc etc. Each emphasized word changes how that entire sentence is read, regardless of which one is emphasized.

Fairly confident he’s calling you a liar and suggesting the things you claim to have seen in an article you never really saw, and are instead offering a claim of your own under the guise of it having been in an article.
